A new survey across nine European countries shows rising distrust toward the United States under President Donald Trump. Nearly 48% of Europeans reportedly view Trump as an enemy of Europe, with higher levels in Belgium, France and Spain. The findings come as Europe faces insecurity from the war in Ukraine and ongoing fears about Russian aggression. Many Europeans believe their countries cannot defend themselves alone and want the European Union to play a larger security role. Concerns have grown over Ukraine peace efforts led by Washington and Moscow without European involvement, while Trump’s approval ratings have fallen to new lows at home.
