Addressing the media at his summit in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump said he has always had “fantastic” relations with Putin despite being “interfered by Russia-Russia hoax.” The two met Friday to discuss a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
Putin said, in the meeting, he agreed the security of Ukraine must be ensured and that he hoped the agreement between the countries would pave the way for peace in Ukraine.
Trump said that the two “had a very productive meeting,” and they had made some headway. He added that he would call NATO and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was not invited to the summit, to provide updates on the meeting.
“ It’s ultimately up to them. They’re going to have to agree with what Marco and Steve and some of the great people from the Trump administration who’ve come here,” Trump said.
