An American R&B artist is heading to Moscow to perform in Russia’s revival of the Intervision Song Contest – a Soviet-era rival to Eurovision. The move comes after Russian singers were banned from Eurovision following the country’s invasion of Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin ordered the contest’s return this year. Intervision originally showcased artists from the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc in the 1960s and 1970s, aiming to rival the West. FRANCE 24’s Olivia Bizot reports.
