Storm Daniel caused heavy flooding, resulting in destructive effects throughout Eastern Libya as the storm’s impact caused a number of dams to burst.
According to officials, at least 10,000 people are feared missing or dead due to the disaster, although the number of confirmed deaths varies.
Tariq Kharaz, a spokesperson for the eastern authorities, reported that 3,200 bodies had been recovered so far, and 1,100 of them are yet to be identified.
Mustafa Salem, a resident shared that no one from his entire extended family, who lived in homes close to each other, had been found alive.
Several nations rushed aid to Libya, including Italy, whose defence ministry announced it was sending two military planes carrying firefighters and other emergency rescue personnel.
