Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox announced on Friday, “we got him,” referring to the suspect in the shooting of American Conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
According to Cox, a family member of suspect Tyler Robinson, 22, reached out to a family friend who contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident.
Robinson had become “more political” in the run-up to the shooting and had indicated to a family friend afterward that he was responsible, Cox said.
Robinson is believed to have acted alone, and the investigation is ongoing, Cox said.
Cox called Kirk’s killing an “attack on the American experiment,” and he urged a new generation to “choose a different path.”
