Veterinarians arrived at a French farm on Friday under police escort to cull cows infected with lumpy skin disease, after officers used tear gas to clear farmers protesting the slaughter. Demonstrators had blockaded the farm in Ariège for two days, accusing authorities of failing to support them, and clashes on Thursday night led to four arrests. Officials said the herd’s owners had agreed to the cull, though protesters disputed this, saying it was splitting their family apart.
